Because we are a content writing agency and talk a lot about content online, our newsfeeds often serve us ads for artificial intelligence (AI) copywriting programs on our social media pages.
Essentially, the ads state that super-smart AI bots can take a few lines of instructions and craft entire web pages, blog articles, or emails for your business. We’re not buying it, and we’ll tell you why.
What is AI content writing?
AI content writing is computer-generated content created by using language processing tools. Several programs offer AI copy, each with its parameters and capabilities. For example, the AI can create text; some can provide summaries, answer questions, and perform other writing and reading tasks.
A human must put keywords or short-form instructions for the AI to follow. Then, the AI uses algorithms to analyze similar content that currently exists on the internet to create a draft of content. It’s nearly automatic.
Here’s why human writers are still the best choice
We understand that using AI-generated copy can save time, but time-saving shouldn’t be your top priority regarding your communications and online messaging. It’s cool tech, but it does have some serious limitations.
AI lacks creativity
An AI content generator cannot come up with genuine, original content. Because AI uses currently existing content to generate your copy, it will never give you something fresh and new. A human writer can develop a communications and content strategy that is customized to your business needs. Human writers can offer creative and engaging story-telling that aligns with your brand. You will not achieve this level of creativity, or any creativity, with the robot writers.
AI lacks emotion
Connecting with your target audience cannot be done without evoking emotion. AI tools cannot understand or replicate emotion, but human writers can. The best content will engage readers and make them feel something, good or bad. In addition to emotion, AI cannot understand things like empathy, ethics, and culture and cannot truly relate to your human customers.
AI cannot tell fact from fiction
AI content writing tools produce content by referencing and researching content that is already out there, written by human writers. For example, it might analyze content that is not factual, false, or even fictional. Without a human fact-checking the entire document, your company could be in trouble. If you’re spending time checking facts, you’re better off spending that time writing creative and original content.
Human writers rule
There are many drawbacks to AI content-generating tools, and it is clear that human writers remain the best choice for your content and communication materials. AI copywriting can save your company time and money, but the disadvantages of these robots are not worth it.
Instead, invest in professional (human) writers that can genuinely connect with your target demographic and align with your unique brand. Our team can create engaging content that draws people in, builds brand loyalty, and helps them make positive interactions with your company.
